The Great Gatsby Party
September 28, 2013
Whisper the password to enter the secret world of a speakeasy. Enjoy live music, games of chance, fabulous food, and open bar and have your photo taken with a vintage 1929 Bentley. This party maybe the most dangerous evening of the year…1920's clothing encouraged, but not required. The Great Gatsby Party will be held in Fletcher Lounge at The University of Tampa on Saturday, September 28, 2013, 7:30 pm – 11:30 pm.
This will be a legendary party, just like Jay Gatsby’s parties in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. Instead of a Long Island home, this unique evening will take place in the fashionable Tampa Bay Hotel dining room. The roaring twenties will come to life as gangsters demand the password to enter through the custom designed doors to the merrymaking. Denise Moore and The Helios Swingtet will set the tone for dancing and entertainment. Black Jack and Roulette will be offered for those who feel lucky. 1920’s Menus from the Tampa Bay Hotel have been used to create food for even the most gourmet palette.
Admission tickets start at $100. For more information call 813.258.7302.
The Great Gatsby Party is underwritten by TECO Energy, Inc., The Tampa Tribune/TBO.com, Specialized Property Services, and Botanica International.
The Henry B. Plant Museum interprets the turn-of-the-century Tampa Bay Hotel and the lifestyles of America’s Gilded Age. Critical to the success of this mission is the restoration and preservation of this National Historic Landmark, an opulent 1891 railroad resort, and the artifacts significant to its history, and the life and work of Henry Bradley Plant. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday, noon to 5 pm. Closed Mondays. Admission is $10 per adult, $7 for seniors (65 yrs.), $7 for students and $5 for children 4 – 12 yrs.
