Mark your calendars now for the January 2012 Miniature Art Society of Florida show and prepare once again for a dazzling visual journey! You will want to celebrate the 37th annual show held at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, Dunedin, Florida, from January 15 through February 5, 2012.


Artists throughout the United States and from many foreign countries submit their entries through October 7. These are magnificent gems of fine art, both paintings, enamels and sculptures. Miniature paintings are both traditional and modern fine art, minute detailed images in mere inches - the largest being twenty-five square inches, or four by six inches. Many are much smaller and require the use of a magnifier to reveal details.


Of approximately 1000 works of art submitted for entry, a jury will carefully select only the very finest for display. The society's permanent collection of 126 miniature masterpieces is also displayed. This is the Miniature Art Society of Florida's 37th International Show of Miniature Art, a dominant international venue for miniaturists. Winning artists will receive total monetary prizes of $15,000 in awards.


Our judge this year is award-winning miniaturist Linda Rossin, who specializes in complex portrayals of American and East African birds and mammals. "My paintings are a celebration of life. They are momentary journeys that are filled with natural richness, beauty and dignity, and provide a shelter from our otherwise fast-paced busy world." Her work is often on display in national and international exhibitions.
