As an artist, I primarily work with acrylic and gouache to create the layers of my abstract pieces. I have been an art lover my entire life, I can remember making paper dolls out of wallpaper samples with my Grandmother well before I could even spell my name. My Grandmother was a talented artist, however she never showed her work publicly, she was my biggest supporter and encouraged me to create art daily and eventually inspired me to follow my dreams of becoming a working artist.
My style of painting is very free form and almost meditative. I use a lot of water when I paint and build thin layers on top of one another to create abstract pieces that are filled with emotion. I love seeing the reaction of viewers when they make a personal connect to one of my pieces, I truly pour myself into each piece and when I find a bond with a stranger over my art it is a beautiful feeling. I have experienced heartache, loss, frustration, joy, victory, perseverance and love in my pieces… I have cried with strangers over their connection to my work and I hope to show my work more and more so that I may meet more people and experience their reactions too.
My pieces range in various sizes but all of them take weeks to complete. I will, from time to time, accept commission work but mostly I prefer to to work from my heart outward and allow the moment and my energy to guide the piece through its journey. I typically paint mostly with my hands as well as unconventional tools, saving brush work for the final stages to add in details and depth.
The Creative Life Project
I started The Creative Life Project at the end of 2015. The goal is to create a community that thrives on art and local support by organizing art shows in locally owned, small businesses in hopes that other artists may show and sell their work.
