Say Wow to Wildlife, In-Person School Tour, Pre K ...
This tour focuses on the basic elements of art – line, shape, color and texture – and how artists use them to tell us about animals, their habitats, and interactions with others. Students learn to use basic art vocabulary to describe what they see. A Native American story about an animal surviving in a harsh environment because of caring friendships rounds out the tour. Tour led by James Museum docents.
We are accepting requests for school tours during the 2020-21 school year. We can accommodate groups on a limited basis, with adaptations in place to create a safer experience for all.
CAPACITY
Our group capacity has changed until further notice. We can accommodate groups of 10 to 30 students at one time. One adult chaperone per 5 students is required. Classes must be split into small groups of 5 children with 1 adult chaperone each. A docent will guide each small group.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
In accordance with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control as well as local and state government recommendations, we have made changes to many of our daily operations. While exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present and we cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during your visit, we are taking many precautions designed to protect the health of our visitors, staff and volunteers. Below is a list of our school group requirements. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us work to keep you and our community safe.
Teachers, chaperones and students will be required to wear face coverings while inside the museum. Our staff, volunteer docents, and other visitors are required to wear face coverings as well.
When entering the museum, all adult and student temperatures will be screened using a touch-free device. Visitors with a fever of 100.4 degrees or more will be asked to return when they are well.
Every visitor will be asked to read and agree to our terms and conditions. Children under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian agree to the terms and conditions on their behalf. Please print and distribute the form to all parents prior to your field trip. A copy of this form will be sent in your field trip confirmation email.
