A Renaissance Christmas

An unforgettable concert experience – ancient vocal music tells the spiritually-uplifting story of the Nativity through Gregorian chant, Latin motets, and traditional Christmas carols in a historic, beautiful sanctuary.

Professional vocal ensemble, Florida Pro Musica, presents A Renaissance Christmas in the  sanctuary of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in downtown Saint Petersburg. Proceeds from the concert fund the restoration of the Knies-Jamerson Memorial Pipe Organ at the church. A reception with the artists follows the concert. The ensemble is a member of Early Music America, the leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and support of early music in North America and includes artists Meghan Alfaro, Mary Cassaday Jones, and Michelle Klima Thomas (soprano); Elizabeth Kent and Judy Vincent Kent (alto); Christopher Hickey, George Western, and Matt Smith (tenor); Peter Baker, David Condon and Shawn Thomas, (bass); directed by Larry Kent.

Kent made his European conducting debut in a performance of Gazzaniga’s Don Giovanni at Teatro Signorelli in Cortona, Italy, in 1996. He maintains a busy schedule as pianist and harpsichordist in addition to his conducting. An accomplished composer, Kent’s choral and instrumental works have received numerous performances on both sides of the Atlantic. Since co-founding Florida Pro Musica in 1998, he continues to explore both familiar and unfamiliar literature for chorus, chamber orchestra, and smaller ensembles.

General Admission: $20. Groups of ten or more tickets purchased together: $18 each. Tickets are available at the Florida Pro Musica website, through Trinity Lutheran Church, and will be available at the door.
