Artist Laura Kmetz Solo Exhibition, Sensory Ecology
Please note, this event has expired.
Painter Laura Kmetz will exhibit her large-scale, acrylic paintings of botanical and nature inspired images as they relate to transformation and regeneration.
Artist Laura Kmetz states that her, “work is informed by transitions inherent to nature. Surfaces are infused with color and line to preserve the intuitive path of their construction. Botanical studies and decorative arts are sources of inspiration. Collected fragments offer further associations with displacement, loss, recovery and preservation. Literal interpretations of organic forms evolve into abstractions.
Kmetz is interested in Sensory Ecology which is the study of how organisms acquire, process and respond to information in their environment. Both animate and inanimate organisms exchange materials, energy and sensory information. “I relate this concept to my creative process as I encounter the natural world. More than by its state of being in any given moment, I am inspired by how something moves and its potential to transform, regenerate or be acted upon.”
Painter Laura Kmetz will do a Talk and Tour event at TECO Public Art Gallery on Thursday, July 11, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. She will talk about her background, her newest paintings and answer questions from the audience. This event is Free and Open to the Public. Please join us.
