Celebrate Women’s History Month with us and enjoy an exciting performance art event by award-winning female artists, Koho Kurihara and Ai Kawamura, as they produce stunning live large-scale calligraphy.
To celebrate Women’s History Month, the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at St. Petersburg College, Tarpon Springs campus, invites the public to take a break at “ArtBreak.”
This festive event includes refreshments, music, hands-on art activities, gallery guides, a behind-the-scenes museum tour, and dynamic performances by visiting Japanese artists Koho Kurihara and Ai Kawamura in honor of Women’s History Month.
Akiko Kotani, a featured artist in the museum’s current exhibition, UNEXPECTED: Art by Alternative Means, will also make a special appearance.
This marks the first time these award-winning artists will be performing in the United States. Examples of their work are available for purchase in Isabelle’s Museum Store and additional works will be on display during the event.
This event also complements the museum’s current exhibition UNEXPECTED: Art by Alternative Means featuring Nathan Beard, Akiko Kotani & Rob Tarbell. These artists experiment with uncommon materials and all three are inspired by Japanese traditions. Kotani is an American fiber artist who incorporates the spirit of Buddhism, part of her cultural heritage, into her work. She currently lives and works in Gulfport, Florida.
