Picnic in the Park
Please note, this event has expired.
Roll back the clock a century and join us for an old fashioned picnic. Bring your blanket, pack a picnic basket and invite family and friends to experience the pleasures of a simpler time. You can just relax in the shade, or test your Victorian sporting prowess with challenges of hoops & sticks, croquet, horseshoes, badminton, and three-legged races. Victorian games will be offered including dominoes, checkers, jacks or tiddlywinks. We'll have strolling models in vintage clothing, live theater, and continuous entertainment on Center Stage.
Blue Bell Ice Cream will provide complimentary ice cream.
Impresario Art Keeble, Executive Director of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County, is chairing entertainment. The 35-member Tampa Community Band is returning this year with a program of Broadway favorites and selections from the Great American Songbook. Don’t miss Matt Weihmuller’s Jazz Trio, including saxophone, bass, and drums. Old-fashioned entertainment is brought to life by Professor Larsen’s One-Man Junk Yard Band. The Crabgrass Cowboys round up some lively tunes in the afternoon, and the Flexible Four Barbershop Quartet will roam the picnic grounds serenading as they stroll.
This event is underwritten by Publix Super Marets Charities, Raymond James and The Tampa Tribune.
