Reception and artist talk for an exhibition of powerful work by Steve Locke

Please join Gallery 221@HCC for the reception of steve locke: the color of remembering. This event will be held on Thursday, January 24 from 5:00-8:00pm, with an artist talk with Camilo Alvarez to begin at 6:00pm. The event will take place in the 2nd floor of the Learning Resources Center / Library building (DLRC), HCC Dale Mabry Campus. Food, libations, and music will be provided for free, courtesy of the gallery.

The event is free and open to the public; parking is also free on campus in any open lot.

steve locke: the color of remembering will be on view January 22 – March 7, 2019.

Steve Locke (b. 1963 in Cleveland, OH) is a Boston-based artist whose work examines violence, racism, love, sex, and identity. In the color of remembering at Gallery221@HCC, Locke directly confronts issues of race and violence in the United States—both past and present—through a selection of photographs from his series Family Pictures and an installation of Three Deliberate Grays for Freddie (A Memorial for Freddie Gray). Locke is currently an Associate Professor at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, MA.
