Staged Reading: Songs for a New World

Presented by Tarpon Springs Cultural Center at Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, Tarpon Springs FL

Sep 25 2014
Staged Reading: Songs for a New World

What is a staged reading? The actors perform the show sitting on stools and acting or singing the show. There are no sets or costumes – and no admission fee! If you’ve ever wanted to experience a musical or play, but you weren’t sure if you would like it or not, now is your chance to check it out. If you like what you hear, then you may want to see more. We’re betting you will.

Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown is a contemporary song cycle that weaves characters and history together, illuminating the timelessness of self-discovery. It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back. The first musical from Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices we make.
