Star Wars Redux: Tim Gibbons

This most recent exhibit of Tm Gibbons’ art is focused primarily on Star Wars, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the opening of the first Star Wars movie. Influenced by Tim’s love of science fiction and comic books Tim immediately embraced everything Star Wars when the movie premiered. In this exhibit he celebrates his love and dedication to storytelling, imagination and realism. Known for his prolific production of art and his varied styles, this show represents yet another avenue in the winding path of Tim’s creations. Tim is a well-known artist and art instructor in the Tampa Bay area and Hillsborough County. His work has been shown extensively throughout Florida, Texas and Oregon, including the TECO public art gallery, Gasparilla Arts Festival, STRAZ Theatre, ShimbergTheatre and Stageworks Theatre and in many downtown Tampa restaurant galleries. Tim also curates the art at several downtown Tampa restaurant galleries, supporting the local art scene by bringing a variety of local artists to restaurant galleries every month. Tim’s art has been published in the Brooklyn Art Library Sketchbook project, where it is on permanent display at the Brooklyn Art Library, Brooklyn, NY and the Tampa Bay Artbook. In 2011 Tim was awarded the first Gladys S.Kashdin “Above and Beyond” award. Also in 2011 he received a Commendation from the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners, signed by all commissioners, for his contributions to the arts community.
