TECO Public Art Gallery presents 'Chroma', featuring artist Elizabeth Fontaine-Barr
Please note, this event has expired.
Chroma opens Nov 1 – January 3, 2017
Chroma is a Solo Exhibition that features 15 boldly colorful paintings by Tampa artist Elizabeth Fontaine-Barr, who was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. Primarily working with acrylic and pastel, the flexibility of the medium allows Elizabeth to use gradual shading to soften transitions or create more energetic and fanciful settings in a style she views as “modern expressionism”. Elizabeth’s work is inspired by the sights and colors of nature rather than the urban cityscapes of the “Big Easy”. But just as New Orleans has its own unique culture, her style is distinctly her own and not quite down the straight and narrow. Though her varied palette may appear in the natural landscapes and wildlife that she portrays, colors are often subverted and made to step outside their normal bounds. In tribute to Elizabeth’s singular approach, her paintings have been the subject of both juried and solo exhibits garnering awards as well as accolades. Whether portraying scenes from her travels or more locally inspired settings, her works have become a part of treasured private collections stretching from Hawaii to New York.
