The Root, The Cuban Sangwich Show
Please note, this event has expired.
April 13-14-15: Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday (7:30 pm, $5.00) THE ROOT by Mark E. Leib. Staged reading by Glenn Gover, who has been performing with Stageworks and Gorilla Theatre in Tampa, FreeFall Theatre in St. Pete, and Orlando’s Mad Cow Theatre. In The Root, Satan, exasperated with his depiction in books, movies and TV, has decided to come out of hiding and tell his side of the story. But this is not the elegant devil of Bernard Shaw’s Don Juan in Hell or the patient miniaturist of C. S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters. This is a dangerous, threatening figure acquainted with all the largest atrocities of the last two thousand years, and anxious nonetheless to enlist the audience to his cause. And on this one evening, Satan is dropping all pretenses to tell us what he wants from us.
The Artists and Writers Group presents another whimsical, tongue-in-cheek, Cuban Sangwich Show (spelling intentional), April 1-19. This mini-feast honors all things Tampa. Our motto: “All Tampa. All Art. No Mayo.” The numerous happenings include visual arts, film, poetry, theatre, cuisine and history lectures.
The Cuban Sangwich Show is sponsored by Grownman Brand Studios, Atlantic and Pacific Productions and the numerous participating artists and writers.
