WordSmitten Writing Workshop
Please note, this event has expired.
WordSmitten’s Saturday afternoon writing workshops are held monthly and our annual conferences are held in the spring. For more information, visit www.WordSmittenMedia.com and www.meetup.com/WordSmitten to register for writing workshops.
Meet working authors and journalists in a relaxed atmosphere to brainstorm about “the book biz” and form productive critique groups. Come to a WordSmitten Writers Workshop to review work, trade literary tips, make friends and have fun with professional and dedicated fiction and non-fiction writers. Our main site is www.WordSmittenMedia.com and for writing workshops visit our writers’ forum at www.Meetup.com/WordSmitten for the schedule of classes.
All writers and should-be writers are welcome. To join, there is a short review process and you’ll be assigned to one of the workshops. Please submit five pages of your current work for the group to review.
Also, for writing tips and interviews with bestselling authors, publishing executives, and literary agents, tune in to the WordSmitten “About the Books” talk radio program.
Recent guests on the show include Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Jane Smiley (A Thousand Acres), Elizabeth Strout (Olive Kitteridge) and Edward P. Jones (The Known World). Listen to writing tips from Sara Nelson, former editor-in-chief of Publishers Weekly.
On About the Books, hear author and journalist, Mr. Gay Talese (Honor Thy Father) who wrote the article “Frank Sinatra Has a Cold” for Esquire, talk about breaking new ground in writing his memoir and in the new creative journalism.
Discover an interview with Natalie Goldberg (Writing Down the Bones), noted as a celebrated writing teacher, and listen to her discuss her innovative “prompts” for getting a story started.
WordSmitten – The people, the books, and the business of writing and publishing.
Visit our distinctive websites: WordSmittenMedia.com, Meetup.com/WordSmitten, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and the old classic site with literary agent interviews, WordSmitten.com, including NYC’s Park Avenue agent, Eric Simonoff.
In addition to our About the Books radio program, our book editing services, and our About the Town news site, we provide a local forum for intermediate and advanced writers through WordSmitten Media, Inc.’s writing workshops. Our Saturday workshops provide writing tips, information about traditional and self-publishing techniques, book editing, and literary and bestselling author interviews.
WordSmitten, established in 1999 in St. Petersburg, Florida, provides a gateway for new and existing writers to enhance their writing careers. With monthly writing workshops and writing conferences that feature bestselling authors, including literary rock star Tom Robbins (Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Villa Incognito, Tibetan Peach Pie), WordSmitten is home for many journalists, novelists, and short story writers.
