AfroCon Call to Artists


AfroCon is a celebration of diverse superheroes. This free, family-friendly event will highlight superheroes of color through crafts, a fan art contest, photo ops, an escape room, gaming, a cosplay contest, and more.

Fan Art Contest

Local artists of all ages (parental permission required for those under age 17) are invited to submit fan art for a competition for the 1st Annual Tampa Bay AfroCon. Art inspiration includes The Black Panther, Spiderman, Luke Cage, Misty Knight, Black Lightning, Xmen’s Storm, Blade, White Tiger, Vixen, and Static Shock.


Prizes will be awarded in each category for Best Youth Artist (Youth Age 0-13) and Best Adult Artist (Age 14+)

1st Place: $25 gift certificate for Michaels

2nd Place: artist kit & sketchbook

3rd Place: artist kit

The deadline to apply is Monday, March 4th, 2019.

The exhibit will be on display at the Robert Saunders Library from March 18, 2019 thru April 27, 2019. Contest judgments and prizes will be awarded at AfroCon event on March 30th, 2019.
