Every month, Creative Capital compiles a list of residencies, grant, and award opportunities as part of their commitment to sharing resources and opportunities for artists, writers, and curators working in all disciplines. These opportunities are free to attend, and most provide artists with financial support and amenities to pursue their creative practice. See their site to sign up for notices. Creative Capital Award – On February 1, applications open to artists of all disciplines to receive the Creative Capital Award, which comes with up to $50,000 in funding for innovative project ideas, plus career development and advisory services valued at an additional $50,000 for a total value of $100,000. The Alfred and Trafford Klots International Program for Artists Brittany, France Deadline: February 1, 2019 This eight-week residency is located in the riverside village of Léhon, France. The selection committee seek four to eight practicing artists, working in any media and of all nationalities, whose mix of media, approaches, styles, and focus will create a dynamic community. Apply
Emmanuel College Art Residency Boston, MA Deadline: February 1, 2019 The Emmanuel College Art Department awards four residencies, one in each discipline of ceramics, photography, printmaking, and social practice. Residents receive lodging, a $1,000 stipend, travel reimbursement, studio space, and a closing exhibition. Apply
Neon Museum National Artist Residency Las Vegas, NVDeadline: February 1, 2019 This residency includes a public program to engage the community and Neon Museum visitors, while providing exposure to new artists and a fresh perspective on the collection. The selected artist, working in the fields of digital, performance, or visual arts, will receive an honorarium, accommodation, studio space, and curatorial support. Apply
StudioWorks at Tides Institute & Museum of Art Residency Eastport, ME Deadline: February 1, 2019 StudioWorks provides ten to fifteen residences for visual artists to create work within a public context and play an active role in a creative community. Residents receive a stipend, lodging, studio space, and opportunities to engage with the public. Apply
BRICLab Artist Residency Brooklyn, NY Deadline: February 7, 2019 New York-based artists are eligible to apply for BRIC’s performing arts residency. The program helps artists explore and expand their work in music, dance, theater, and multidisciplinary performance. Artists will have access to the BRIC House Artist Studio, and receive a stipend, and two documented showings of their work-in-progress. Apply
The Strange Foundation West Shokan, NY Deadline: February 15, 2019 The Strange Foundation has launched their inaugural residency program focused on providing digital and computer-centric artists a free 1-2 week stay at family-friendly accommodations in the Catskills. Apply
Lighthouse Works Fellowship Program Fishers Island, NY Deadline: February 15, 2019 Lighthouse Works offers residencies to visual artists, writers, and composers who are at the vanguard of their creative fields. The six-week fellowship provides housing, meals, a $1,500 stipend, and studio space. Apply
Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program Residency Brooklyn, NY Deadline: February 15, 2019 The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program awards rent-free studio space to 17 visual artists for year-long residencies. Resident artists are selected annually by a professional jury comprised of artists, critics, and curators. Apply
Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Center Workspace Residency Buffalo, NY Deadline: February 15, 2019 This project-based residency invites artists, filmmakers, curators, and other professionals working in media arts to apply to Squeaky Wheel’s summer residencies. The program comes with a $1,000 stipend, artist fees, and opportunities to engage the community in public events. Apply
MAP Fund Grant Deadline: February 15, 2019 MAP supports original live performance projects that embody a spirit of deep inquiry through grants between $10,000 – $45,000 . Apply
LACMA Art + Technology Lab Los Angeles, CA Deadline: February 21, 2019 Designed for artists working on experimental projects and technology, this residency encourages artists to pursue new directions in their work. The program comes with up to $50,000 in in-kind support. Apply
Rowan University Artist in Residence Program Glassboro, NJ Deadline: February 24, 2019 The Rowan University Art Department grants one residency to a North American visual artist for one academic semester and offers a $3,000 stipend, studio space, access to art department facilities, an optional exhibition, and artist-led programming. Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute Residency Utica, NY Deadline: February 25, 2019 Artists in photography and painting/drawing with a dedicated interest in arts education are invited to apply to a nine-month academic year residency. Artists receive a $2,500 stipend, housing, meal plan, paid compensation as a Community Arts Education Instructor, studio space, and two-person exhibition in exchange for teaching courses and engaging the students and community at MWPAI. Stochastic Labs Residency Berkeley, CA Deadline: February 25, 2019 Stochastic Labs awards fully-sponsored residencies to exceptional engineers, artists, scientists, and entrepreneurs from around the world. Residencies include a private apartment at the mansion, co-working and/or dedicated work space, shop access, a monthly stipend, and a budget for materials. Apply
Museum of Arts and Design Burke Prize New York, NY Deadline: February 28, 2019 The Burke Prize at the Museum of Art and Design is an unrestricted $50,000 award for artists aged 21-45 advancing the next generation of the American studio craft movement. Artists working in glass, fiber, clay, metal, and woodas well as other interdisciplinary practices, are encouraged to apply. Apply
Fiore Art Center Summer Residencies Jefferson, ME Deadline: March 1, 2019 The Fiore Art Center awards six month-long visual arts residencies, one month-long poetry residency, and one month-long performance/interdisciplinary artist residency promoting dialogue between the gardening, farming and creative worlds. Lower East Side Printshop Keyholder Residencies New York, NY Deadline: March 1, 2019 The Printshop awards eight residencies to artists working in various mediums, providing free 24-hour keyholder access, a $1,000 stipend, and basic access to printmaking resources and studio space in the Lower East Side. All disciplines are eligible to apply. Apply
Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts Residency Nebraska City, NE Deadline: March 1, 2019 The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center supports established and emerging writers, visual artists, composers, and musicians with housing, studio space, and a $100 stipend per week to pursue creative growth and opportunities for public engagement. The Saint John’s Pottery Jerome Foundation Emerging Artist Program Collegeville, MN Deadline: March 1, 2019 Two awards are granted to emerging artists of all ages, providing a stipend of $3,600, a studio residency focusing on ceramic art using local clay and natural materials, and access to the Johanna Kiln, the largest wood-firing kiln in North America.  Apply
National Parks Arts Foundation Poets in Parks Residency Gettysburg National Military Park, PA Deadline: March 2, 2019 This residency is for poets engaged in all kinds of work. The program is looking for poets who will engage the public in several venues, including the Poetry Foundation in Chicago, and it comes with a $1,000 stipend. Apply
The Watermill Center International Summer Program Water Mill, NY Deadline: March 4, 2019 The Watermill Center invites international multidisciplinary and performance artists to a five-week intensive program dedicated to investigating the “global artist” in a creative and collaborative environment. Access Arts/School of Service Residency Columbia, MO Deadline: rolling basis Artists will receive studio space and accommodations in exchange for 10-15 hours of service to the Columbia, MS, community in the form of education, outreach, and maintenance. Some materials are provided, and residencies can range from three months to one year. Apply
Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant Deadline: rolling basis Do you have an unanticipated opportunity to present your work? Did you incur an unexpected expense that you didn’t budget for? The Foundation for Contemporary Arts offers Emergency Grants between $200 and $2,500 for visual and performing artists. They review applications once a month, so you can quickly take advantage of momentum or solve any budget errors. Apply
