Job Description – Volunteer SupervisorPay Type – Stipend

Reports to Leadership Team (Festival Producer, Festival Director, and Festival Manager)

Pay: $1000 stipend

The volunteer supervisor for the Tampa International Fringe Festival (TiFf) is a part-time seasonal position in charge of identifying volunteer needs, recruiting volunteers, and overseeing volunteer training and volunteer assignments during the annual festival. This position is a three month commitment, from February through May. Due to the unpredictable nature of the job responsibilities during the festival, candidates must not be directly involved with any fringe productions. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or 3+ years professional experience in a related field.


Job responsibilities for the volunteer supervisor include:

  • February-March
    • Work with festival leadership team to
      • Identify volunteer positions needed for the upcoming festival
      • Develop the volunteer benefits program details for the upcoming festival
      • Create a preliminary list of volunteer positions needed with job descriptions/qualifications
    • Develop and implement recruiting campaign
    • Update and maintain the volunteer database and be the main contact for all volunteers
  • March-Mid-April
    • Work with Box Office Manager and other Directors to
      • Update or create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for each volunteer position
      • Create a comprehensive volunteer schedule for the Festival including training sessions
        • Each volunteer shift change should include an overlap of 10 minutes
      • Update the volunteer handbook
    • Fill the volunteer schedule by the first week of April, identifying any unfilled spots and working with the leadership team to resolve any issues
    • Maintain consistent and timely communications with the volunteers
    • Submit weekly reports to leadership team
  • The week prior to the festival
    • Conduct volunteer training sessions for all volunteers
    • Have all volunteer positions scheduled
    • Confirm with each volunteer that they
      • Have attended a training session and signed the appropriate paperwork
      • Understand when they are scheduled
  • The 10 Days of the Festival
    • Maintain a full-time presence at the festival
      • Working with leadership team to coordinate when you will not be on grounds
    • Check in at the beginning of the day with each volunteer station
      • Making sure they have the appropriate supplies needed
      • Resolving any issues that may arise
      • Immediately working toward replacing and volunteer has not arrived for their assignment, and filling in for any detrimental volunteer positions that are not covered
        • Notifying the leadership team if more than one detrimental position needs to be covered
    • Coordinating with the leadership team to provide the deliverables of the volunteer benefits program
    • Be a representative of the festival at all times, maintain a level of decorum at all fringe activities whether or not  you are “on the clock”
