There is so much to discover at The Ringling! Students of all ages will connect with art, nature, and history as they explore The Ringling’s rich art collections, roam the lush grounds, visit the historic Ca’ d’Zan, and experience the fascinating, interactive history of the American circus. Docent-led and teacher-guided tour options are available, and our museum staff is eager to work with educators to meet students’ learning needs.
Teacher-guided visits are perfect for learners of all ages! Our docent-guided tours are carefully developed to reflect specific standards and curriculum tie-ins by grade level. Are you homeschooling? Join us for Homeschool Third Thursday! This program engages learners on multiple levels with hands-on activities, docent-guided looking, and family-friendly modules.
To extend learning beyond the school day, The Ringling also offers fun programs for kids and families. Check out the Ringling Order of Art Readers (R.O.A.R.) for weekly storytime activities, or visit during Family Saturdays to find hands-on connections with works of art and museum artifacts.

Activate student interest and let their imaginations run wild!Discover how color is used by artists to convey a mood or feeling in a work of art. Explore three works of art at The Ringling and learn how artists use a color palette to give their artwork a specific feeling. Then create a color palette of your own to use as a toolbox to create an artwork with a specific mood.
Teachers have two ways to include an Artful Imagination virtual tour in your curriculum.
Live Virtual Tour
Live virtual tours are conducted over Zoom or Microsoft Teams. These 30-60 minute virtual tours are led by an experienced museum educator who will meet with teachers ahead of the tour to plan a customized tour that perfectly fits with your visual arts curriculum. Leveraging technology to engage students, this interactive tour will have students actively learning about artist’s color palettes, analyzing art from different periods and cultures, and creating a color palette all their own. Live virtual tours can be customized to focus on any technique in the artist’s toolbox, from color palette to line to composition, this tour activates the creative artist in all students.
