Two-week wheel camp for teens at Taylor Art Studio.
The City of Tampa’s Taylor Art Studio features a two-week wheel camp for teens 12 to 17. Students will learn how to thrown pottery on the wheel, work with hand-building clay, experiment with glazes and their chemistry all while making functional and sculptural Florida-themed pieces. While clay is drying and firing, students will fuse glass and work in various other mediums. This is a summer favorite with teens. We are only taking twenty students to ensure everyone gets one-on-one attention. Come have fun while creating art and forming lasting friendships. Students bring a brown-bag lunch; no refrigeration or microwave available. We will take a short break in the morning, and in the afternoon; snacks are encouraged. All students must wear appropriate clothing (prepare to get muddy) and closed-toed shoes.
Students must be registered with the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation by having a current rec card. This two-week camp runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The fee for camp is $200 with an additional $25 for extended care (drop off before 9:00 a.m. and pick up later than 4:00 p.m.)
