Singin' in the Rain

Singin' in the Rain

Presented by Carrollwood Cultural Center at Carrollwood Cultural Center

Directed by Aaron Washington with vocal direction by Mary Jo Hahn and a live orchestra led by Reed Stricsek, the Carrollwood Cultural Center will continue their annual tradition of producing a summer musical with “Singin’ in the Rain” for two weekends in July.

“Singin’ in the Rain” has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers. In silent movies, Don Lockwood (Ben Richter) and Lina Lamont (Alicia Spiegel) are a hot item but, behind the scenes, things aren’t always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her career in “talking pictures” without the help of a talented young actress (Ashley Ryan Lord) to do the talking and singing for her.

Written by Betty Comden and Adolph Green with songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, “Singin’ in the Rain” is based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Inc. “Singin’ in the Rain” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI) and sponsored by Cricket Wireless.

*An ASL interpreter will be available at the July 21 performance.
