September, 1963. In the Alabama Wiregrass, Earl McCall’s life, and his way of life, are coming to an end. One hundred miles away in Montgomery, the Civil Rights struggle brings together Earl’s daughter Jean Rose and Alvanette Jackson, RN. Defying segregation, the women uncover by the purest chance a shared tie to McCall. Their respective confrontations with the dying man unearth buried secrets and wake long-dormant memories, exposing both the iron grip and the fragility of the tragic connection that binds the women one to the other.
The audience is invited to join in a post-reading Talkback.
