Live Virtual Studio Conversation with artist Akiko...

Presented by HCC Dale Mabry Campus Gallery 221 at Online/Virtual Space

Akiko Kotani’s art embodies the surprising power and attraction of simplicity. The diversity of her influences and her training comes together in her distinctive imagination, which enables her to create original works. With whatever materials and whether the images are playful, serene or serious, her work contains a depth of feeling within an economy of means.

Kotani’s work belongs in many private, corporate and museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. It has been exhibited there as well as in many international venues that include the Kyoto Municipal Museum, Japan and the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio. Kotani has participated in solo exhibitions at the HCC Dale Mabry Campus (2016) and the HCC Ybor City Campus (2019).
