Plunge into a Cypress-flanked 72-degree natural spring in Lithia. Soak up the sun at Summer Camp. With more than 176 neighborhood parks, a dozen recreation centers, 700 miles of trails, and 61,000 acres of preserved land throughout Hillsborough County there are plenty of opportunities to discover adventures in your own backyard and beyond.

Whether you’re looking to escape the city crowds or just find a place to stretch your legs or your imagination, Hillsborough County has hundreds of parks waiting for you. You could canoe down the Alafia River alongside wildlife, take a long hike through Trout Creek Wilderness Park, or just have a stroll nearby in your neighborhood.

Our recreation programs are proven boredom busters. We offer tons of fun activities that will get you moving, smiling, and socializing alongside people in your neighborhood.

The Parks & Recreation Department operates numerous parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and recreation centers. The department also provides programs, events, and activities to Hillsborough County residents year-round.

We offer programming for the community at more than a dozen recreation centers across the County. These locations feature different amenities such as indoor basketball, fitness centers, enrichment classes, volleyball and playgrounds.

What you need to know:

  • The recreation centers are free; there is no membership fee required for access
  • Some offer fitness centers, which are $10 a month for use; allows you to visit any of our fitness centers around the County as often as you like
  • Some offer rooms that can be rented by the public.
